The Marian University Ancilla Baseball team concluded a weekend series against Lake Michigan College Sunday afternoon, dropping both games, 16-6 (in 5 innings) and 7-1. The games took place at Lakeshore High School in Stevensville, Michigan, due to renovations at LMC's campus. Below is a quick summary of each game from Sunday's action.

GAME-1 (L 16-6): The Chargers came out and hit early, scoring 3 runs in the top of the 1st inning, however, Lake Michigan responded with 12 runs in the bottom of the inning, and Marian Ancilla didn't score again until it was too late in the top of the 5th. Freshman Wes McNeff was the only Charger with 2 hits, plus he had a double and drove in a run. Freshman Nolan Pizzo led the team with 2 runs driven in. Starting pitcher Kaleb Short (1-4) took the loss in this one.

GAME-2 (L 7-1): Marian Ancilla was held hitless through 3 innings, while the Red Hawks amassed a 5-0 lead during that time. In the top of the 4th inning, Wes McNeff tripled, Freshman Aiden Marcus singled, then Freshman Dylan Ford drove in McNeff on a groundout to 2nd base for the only Charger run of the second contest. Marcus (0-2) pitched all 6 innings as well, allowing just 4 earned runs.

The Charger Baseball team is scheduled to be back in action this Thursday when they host Kalamazoo Valley Community College in an afternoon double-header. Games start at 2:00 p.m., so please come out and support the guys, if you are able!!
