Cougars Take Down Chargers, 83-66

PLYMOUTH (IN) - In a race to beat the winter storm headed their way, the Marian University Ancilla Men's Basketball team hosted the Kalamazoo Valley Cougars in an MCCAA conference matchup Saturday afternoon. The Cougars took control early, leading by 12 points at the intermission, before ultimately winning in the end, 83-66.

At the same time, the Chargers battled throughout the second half, and they had their opportunities. With about four minutes to go in the game, the Chargers had three consecutive possessions with the ball down 11 points, but they couldn't make a dent in the Kalamazoo Valley lead at that point. The Cougars would then go on to stretch their lead back out and finish up 17.

Marian Ancilla placed three players in double figures, with Sophomore Kenneth Grant leading the way with his 18 points. Freshman Omari Evans followed with 16 points, 6 assists, and 3 steals, while Freshman Kayden English was the top contributor off the bench scoring 12 points and pulling down 5 rebounds.

Like many others across the country, the Chargers are buried in the snow waiting to see when they play next. They were supposed to host Glen Oaks Monday (1/26/26) in what was the third chance at a game that has already been rescheduled twice, but it has once again been postponed due to weather. Looking ahead, the Men's and Women's teams are hopeful they'll be able to travel to Benton Harbor to take on Lake Michigan College in a Wednesday conference double-header. Games would start at 5:30p & approximately 7:30p. Please come out and support the Chargers, if you are able!!
