PLYMOUTH (IN) - After some time off due to weather, the Marian University Ancilla Women's Basketball team returned to action this past week with a pair of games, going 2-0 in those contests despite missing a starter each game. Saturday, they hosted the Kellogg Community College Bruins, and despite a rough-shooting first half, the Chargers stretched out a 9-point halftime lead to win by 23 points, 59-36.
For the second consecutive game, Sophomore guard Annika Davis stepped up offensively in the second half. The 5-6 Fort Wayne native finished with 26 points on 10-21 shooting, she was 3-9 from deep, and she dished out 3 assists. Fellow Sophomore Aaliyah Keil also had a nice game, scoring 19 points, collecting 8 rebounds, and handing out 3 assists as well.
The "bench" also came up big playing key minutes. Sophomore forward Ga'Naysia White, starting her first game of the year for the injured Santana Eubanks, hauled in 12 rebounds, 7 of which came at the offensive end of the floor. She added 5 points and 3 steals to her effort. Sophomore guard Audri Prater continues to impact the boards as well, and the 5-5 guard collected 6 total rebounds during this outing. Freshman Tianna Guy added 5 rebounds of her own to the mix.
Starting tomorrow, the Chargers will play 4 games over the next 6 days. Tomorrow they host Glen Oaks in an MCCAA matchup that has now been rescheduled 3 times due to weather. Tip time is set for 5:30p at the LifePlex in Plymouth. Wednesday they host Southwestern Michigan, Thursday they host Andrews, and Saturday they return the favor and travel to Glen Oaks. Please come out and support these ladies, if you are able!!
