PLYMOUTH (IN) - Last night, the Marian University Ancilla Women's Basketball team used a strong defensive effort to upend the Southwestern Michigan College Roadrunners, 53-43. The victory helped propel the Chargers into the Semifinals of the NJCAA Great Lakes District B Bracket, and it earned them a trip to Flint, Michigan, and Mott Community College this coming weekend.
A strong performance from the Sophomore trio of Annika Davis, Santana Eubanks, and Aaliyah Keil helped the Chargers separate from the Roadrunners in the second half, securing the win-or-you're-out postseason contest. Davis, a 5-6 guard from Fort Wayne, scored 16 points, including a 4-for-9 shooting performance from long range. She added 6 rebounds and 3 steals to her effort. Eubanks, a 5-8 forward from Kentwood (MI), pitched in with 16 points of her own, plus she collected 7 caroms and added 2 assists and 2 steals to her tally. And Keil also scored in double digits with 10 points. The Highland native also chipped in with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
Next up for the Chargers is that aforementioned trip to Mott Community College, where they will face the Northern Division's Mid Michigan College in a Semifinal game at 5:30p. A win Friday puts Marian Ancilla in the Bracket's Championship Game, offering them the opportunity to advance to the NJCAA National Tournament.
